How to feed on the scriptures without toil.

Hello Beloved,

Do you feel reading the scriptures is a duty or chore? Do you feel dread and guilt when you feel you should read but you haven’t in weeks? The Bible is a way God provided for you to discover His thoughts of Himself and you, His image-bearer. God wants you to enjoy Him. There are 2 elements you can depend on to help you enjoy, grow and mature as a Christ follower and disciple.

Have you heard people say, “If you do work you enjoy, it does not feel like work at all”? Reading God’s word can be a delight.

Psalms 1.2,3. But his delight is in the law of the Lord and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in its season whose leaf also shall not wither and whatever he does shall prosper.

God wants you to enjoy and delight in Him. It means pleasure, longing, captivate, joyful, bliss. What are you longing for in your life? As you read scripture, ponder his thoughts, feeling and desires. Know Jesus can meet every need in your life. Let Him captivate you in His presence with joy, bliss and satisfy your longing. 😊

Psalm 16.1. You will show me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy

Psalm 40.8. I delight to do your will, O my God, your law is within my heart.

Psalm 37.4,5. Delight thyself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way unto the Lord and He will bring it to pass.

You are reading His thoughts and desires. Delight will drive and sustain you in meditating in His word, which will transform your heart’s desires as His Image bearer.

Hebrews 4.12

For the word of God is alive and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow, it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothin gin all creation is hidden from God's sight.

Meditating on God’s word reveals your identity, purpose and function of your heart and soul. Meditation God’s way is to study, ponder, imagine and think deeply on scripture, then apply and practice. Let it fill and cleanse your heart, soul and spirit.
