In the Midst of Failure, Choose...

In the midst of failure, what will you choose?

There are times in life we have disappointments. We set goals, schedules and to do lists. We set our minds on certain outcomes of our performance in projects, tasks, and ideas. We work hard and press our way for expected outcomes. Then something happens where we may have made a wrong decision. We thought we were doing the right thing or you may have forgotten a certain step. What do you do when failure happens? When you make an error in judgement for a particular task or flawed your character, what mindset will you choose? Will you choose Life or Death? God, our Creator suggested to His people to choose life. How can I choose life in failure? Death says, “I failed because I am a failure. I am a loser, an idiot". Life says, "I failed because I forgot who I was." You forgot who you were. You did not fail because we all are only human. Stop the excuses. You forgot. You had a relapse. Now pick yourself up and remind yourself who you are. Who are you? You are created in the image of God. You are enough. You are his creation. As a human being, you are the most powerful being on this earth. The universe is at your disposal. God created it for us. It hears what you say and conforms to what you think. FAIL stands for First Attempt In Learning. Don’t use mistakes to build an errored image of yourself.

Deuteronomy 30.19. I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing. Therefore choose life, that both you and your seed may live.

God is telling us that we always have an opportunity to choose life. Always. The way of life is always available. What is choosing life? What you say? What you think? What you choose to become. When I make a mistake, I get myself up and say. Ok, Lydia. you did that because you forgot who you are. That was a dumb move. You forgot to think at the level you are suppose think. Then I remind myself who I am. I look in the mirror and make a declaration of who I am and what I am not. I look at the errors and search for the root cause of it. And yep, that’s not who I am because I am phenomenal. I am excellent. I am lovable. Then i set boundaries to prevent that from happening again. Jesus said, he came that so we can have abundant life. Choosing life involves seeking what Life looks like. It is in the image of Jesus Christ, God’s dear son. I am God’s Daughter. I am pure. I am holy. I am sanctified. Here is the main message. When you choose a path that leads to death and make a mistake that is not at your best interest for you and others, Life is always available. The perishing path is walked by those who wallow in their failures and remain in condemnation. They think like a victim, play the blame game or embrace a mindset that leads to depression or oppression. Failure says, I am no good. Nothing happens for me. I am always messing up. I am a stupid idiot. I hate myself. I am a loser.

To succeed in life is not by what you do, but what you become and you become by how you think and what you believe. We believers do not become a new person by changing our behavior. We discover the person we already are in Christ and behave accordingly! It is the being that matters, then the doing comes after. Every day and all day, in every moment of the day, Life and Death are set before us. Which will you choose? God suggests “Choose Life.” His mercy is always presenting life to you even in the midst of turmoil, trouble and storms. I trust this blog has enlightened your understanding. If you are going through something right now, I trust you have a glimpse of hope. So remember the way of Life. Speak life to yourself and your situation. Choose life. I do. 😁
